From the Desk of Mr. Clamons...

With the first semester in the rearview mirror and second semester off to a great start, the 2009-2010 school year has been outstanding. The positive communication I’ve had with parents and students has been great. I have really enjoyed getting to know the new class of seventh graders, as well as continuing to get to know the eighth grade class.

It dawned on me that many of you may not know much about me, so I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about myself.

I came to EMS in 2008-2009 after 10 years at Goddard High School where I was a Language Arts teacher. During my time at the high school, I was involved in wrestling, girls’ basketball, girls’/boys’ soccer, and girls’/boys’ bowling. I consider the bowling team to be one of my favorite accomplishments at GHS, as we started the program from scratch five years ago. I also served as the Comic Book Club sponsor for four years. I had a great time building relationships with students and colleagues at GHS and look forward to doing the same here at EMS.

In my personal life, I like sports, reading, and spending time with my family. I am married and have two children, ages seven and three, and a new arrival due this summer. I am a proud graduate of Kansas State University, where I received degrees in secondary education and English. I completed my master’s degree in School Leadership at Baker University. I’m originally from the Kansas City area, and continue to support the Chiefs and Royals, hoping that one day they’ll get things back on the right track. I try to read for 30 minutes every night, but lately I find myself spending most of that time reading with my children. I almost have “Where the Wild Things Are” memorized! For those of you who have met me in person, you’ll find it no surprise that cooking (and eating) is also pretty high on my list of favorite activities.

I’d like to thank everyone for your support of EMS. I look forward to the remainder of the school year and the years to come. Please know that the lines of communication are always open. If you have any questions or concerns, I am happy to address and discuss them with you. Remember that , like all the staff at EMS, I am here to help your student succeed in and out of the classroom.
