It is hard to believe that we are already in the last month of the 2007-2008 school year. We have completed the state math and reading assessments and are finishing the state science and social studies assessments. Our preliminary results are good. We are proud of our students and the effort they exhibited during the 2008 state assessments. We are beginning to plan for the 2008-2009 school year. Our teachers and staff are ordering supplies and equipment for next year. The administrative team is working on the master schedule of classes and we are making plans to transition the current sixth grade students to EMS. We have scheduled our final recognition assembly for Friday, May 18. The seventh grade assembly will be at 8:00 a.m. and the eighth grade assembly will be at 9:15 a.m. We look forward to seeing you at these recognition assemblies. Since we did not use all of the snow days, our school year will be shortened by one day. Our final day of school at EMS will be Wednesday, May 21. Students will clean out their lockers at the end of the day on Tuesday, May 20. Students will not have access to their locker on the last day of school. The only items that students will need to bring on the last day of school are a pen and/or pencil and paper. In the past, we have been very successful in avoiding any major problems by using these procedures. Our goal is to have a safe, productive, uneventful last day of school for all. I would like to say a special “thanks” to Ryan Jilka for two great years as an assistant principal at EMS. He is leaving EMS to become an assistant principal at Goddard High School. Ryan is a dedicated professional and I will miss working with him on a daily basis. I am proud of Ryan and have the greatest confidence in him as he transitions to his new role as a high school administrator. I am happy to announce that Greg Clamons will be replacing Ryan as assistant principal at EMS. Greg has been a language arts teacher and coach at Goddard High School for many years. This will be Greg’s first administrative assignment and we are excited to have him on board the EMS administrative team. Congratulations to both Ryan and Greg on their promotions on our administrative team. This will be the final edition of our EMS newsletter. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to meeting the changing needs of our students, parents, and community. I would like to personally thank all of the Eisenhower Middle School parents and guardians for your support throughout this school year. This has been a very productive and positive school year. On behalf of the EMS faculty and staff, I would like to wish each of you a safe and relaxing summer. Educationally,
