All of the phrases above are 101 ways to praise children. Many of these phrases are used throughout each day at Oak Street.  When students hear positive phrases, it encourages them to try harder and builds positive character. I can’t think of anyone who gets tired of receiving positive phrases.

 I want to take this opportunity to wish the 4th grade class good luck as they go on to the Discovery/Challenger building. It’s sad to see a class graduate on to another building, but exciting to see them mature and grow closer to adulthood.

Request to Administer Medication at School
Permission For Self Administering of Medication

1. They are vomiting—Two or more times in 24 hours.
2. They have diarrhea—Three or more watery stools in 24 hours.
3. They have a rash, lice or nits—Body rash especially with a fever or itching.
4. They have an eye infection– Reddened eye, thick mucous or pus draining from the eye.
5. They have a sore throat– With fever or swollen glands.
6. They have a fever—Temperature of 100 degrees or more, sore throat, rash, 
7.        vomiting, diarrhea, earache or just not feeling well.

1. Please call the school office at 794-4200 and let them know your child will be absent.
2. Please inform the school nurse if your child has strep throat, pink eye, chicken pox, lice or other communicable disease.
3. Your child should be temperature free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school after an illness.

1. Beginning in the school year 2007-2008, two doses of varicell-containing vaccine will be required for Kansas students entering Kindergarten and First Grade.
2. Children who have had the disease do not need the vaccination booster or an initial vaccine.
3. A second catch-up dose of varicella vaccine is recommended for children, adolescents, and adults who previously had received one dose to improve individual protection against varicella and for more rapid impact on school outbreaks.

MEDICATION POLICY If your child needs to have medication administered during school hours please follow these guidelines: Over-the-Counter Medications If your child needs an over-the-counter medication administered such as Tylenol, cough drops, medicated sprays or lotions, please make sure a note signed by the parent is sent with dosage information along with the medication to the school nurse. Prescription Medications If your child needs a prescription medication administered at school, please make sure a note is signed by the doctor and sent with the medication to the school nurse. We are not able to administer medications unless the above guidelines have been followed.
