Dear Parents:

Please take a moment to review the following changes to student lunch account balances that are in effect for Goddard School District, USD 265.

Students in grades K – 8 who do not receive free or reduced meals and their lunch account balance is zero or below, a type A (reimbursable) meal will be made available to them. A reimbursable or type A meal consists of one main dish, one milk, and several sides. cost will be applied to the student’s lunch account. , ALL students must maintain a positive balance on their lunch accounts to be able to purchase extra mains, milks, items from the snack bar, or ice cream when made available.

In the event a student’s account reaches -$10.00, they will be served cheese, crackers, and milk unless a sack lunch is provided or money is added to the student’s account by the child’s parent or guardian. student will no longer be provided a type A or reimbursable meal. If a child is served cheese and crackers for three consecutive days due to a sack lunch or lunch money not being provided by the parent/guardian, that information will be turned over to SRS and our USD 265 Police Department for action.

Students who attend Goddard High School or the Goddard Academy and are not on a free or reduced program will be required to maintain a positive balance on their lunch account at all times in order to purchase a meal or snack items. Those who are on the free or reduced program will continue to receive their reimbursable meal, but will not be allowed to purchase extra mains, milks, or items from the snack bar if there is not a positive balance in the account.

The USD 265 administration realizes these are difficult times. If you need an application for free or reduced lunches please contact the Nutrition Services Office immediately at 316-794-4000. information is kept confidential and no other student or staff member will know you have requested and/or receive assistance. be aware, however, that once a student has been approved to receive free or reduced meals, the child’s parent/guardian is still responsible for any outstanding balances.

You can visit our website www.goddardusd.com <http://www.goddardusd.com> and click on the tab labeled NutriKids to monitor and manage your students’ lunch account. , for added convenience, payments can be made on-line.

Lunch Money
MyNutriKids

Any student can participate in the breakfast or hot/cold lunch program. Extra food items are available at an additional cost. Money for meals will be paid to the homeroom teacher and applied to the student’s account in the main office. Students are encouraged to prepay meals on a monthly basis. Parents can also bring money directly to the office. Students bringing lunch from home must eat in the cafeteria with their class.

Goddard School District will follow the following procedures to recover charges made on meal accounts for students in grades elementary, intermediate and middle schools:

  1. When a student’s meal account balance reaches +$5.00, the building secretary will send a low-balance notice to the parent/guardian of the student.
  2. If the student’s meal account balance reaches -$5.00, an e-mail will be sent to the parent/guardian and a
letter signed by the building principal will be mailed to the parent/guardian advising of the need to immediately deposit funds to eliminate the negative balance. A free/reduced-price meals application will be included with the letter.
  3. If the student’s meal account balance reaches -$10.00, the principal will call the parent/guardian.
  4. If the student’s meal account balance reaches -$20, collection action will be initiated by the building secretary by contacting the USD 265 Police Department and the USD 265 Nutrition Services Department.
During the process to recover the meal account charges, students in elementary, intermediate and middle schools will continue to be served a school lunch if a sack lunch is not provided by the parent/guardian.

Families may qualify for either free or reduced meals based on total family income and number of dependents. Application forms are available in both school offices.
