The PTO function is a support organization for the students and staff of the intermediate schools. Last year, through fund raising, they provided recess equipment, supplies for classrooms, and AR rewards. They also raised funds for an outdoor classroom area for classes to use during the school year. PTO also provides room parents who organize all of the holiday activities. Their support is deeply appreciated by the Challenger and Discovery Intermediate Schools.

PTO News

This is my last newsletter as a parent on the Challenger/Discovery PTO.   I wish I could put into words how much fun it has been to work with other parents and with our great teachers on activities for our children.  If you would be interested in working on the newsletter and would like more information, please give me a call at   721-1584.  Thanks … Deb Jamieson

ALERT!
Most of the officers this year are parents of 6th grade students and they will not be here next year.  The PTO makes decisions and coordinates volunteers for school skating parties, class parties, lunches for teachers during Parent/Teacher Conferences, school pictures, Field Day, Kid’s Appreciation Day, 6th Grade Promotion, book fairs, and MORE.  The PTO also organizes school fundraisers like our school basketball game this year.  This money is used for items like interactive clicker systems for the classrooms.

Without volunteers, the PTO will cease to exist, so PLEASE consider volunteering.  Our final meeting for this school year will be on May 9th.  We need to have volunteers in place for the board for the beginning of the school year.  If you would like more information, please either attend the meeting on the 9th or call any board member.  Thank You!

Volunteers Needed
PTO Officers
We are still looking for parents to volunteer to be PTO officers.  If you would be willing to participate, please call any board member for information.

Field Day Volunteers Needed
Field Day will be held for our 5th graders on May 16 and for our 6th graders on   May 17.
We need 30 volunteers each morning from 8:30 to 10:30 and 14 volunteers from 12:30 to 2:30 in the afternoon.
If you would be willing to help, please contact either Susan DeLap at 721-1521 or Norma Jean Vap at 794-2825.
This is a fun day for the students and for the volunteers.  If you can work just 2 hours, we need you!!!

We Need You!!
If you would like to help with next year’s basketball game, work with volunteers, take minutes of the meetings, or do the monthly newsletter, now’s the time to volunteer.  We need you, and it’s also a lot of fun!!

Thank You!
Book ‘em!!!
Thank you to all of our great volunteers who staffed the book fair, and to all the parents and students who came out and supported the book fair.  It was a great success raising over $4,000 for our school libraries.
