Meet the Coaches:

Roger Robben
Head Coach

Coach Robben is entering his fifth year as Director of Goddard Football and Head Coach at Goddard High School. In 2007, Coach Robben directed the Lions to a sub-state runner up finish in Class 6A. Roger also directed Goddard to their first playoff win since 1988. In 2006, Coach Robben helped direct the Lions to a second place finish at 5-4 in one of the toughest leagues in the state, the AVCTL Division 1. In 2005, Coach Robben helped lead the Lions to their first playoff apperance and league championship in over fifteen years. Roger came to Goddard after serving as the head coach at Buhler High School for three years.  Previously, Robben served as head coach at Remington High School and assistant head coach at Bishop Carroll High School.  During his time at Bishop Carroll, the Golden Eagles won two Wichita City League Championships.  Coach Robben played his college football at the University of Kansas where he earned Honorable Mention All Big-Eight honors on both offense and defense.  He started all four seasons and was co-captain of the 1991 team.  Roger is supported by his three children, Olivia, Riggs, and Sylvia.

John Buckendorff
Assistant Coach
Coach Buckendorff is entering his thirteenth year as an assistant coach. He graduated 
from Southwestern College with a Master’s Degree in Education and from Southwestern 
Oklahoma University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business. In 
Oklahoma he played offensive line and was awarded All-Conference Honors playing in 
the NAIA National Playoff Game. In addition, he played at the University of Arizona on the 
offensive-line for 3years. John is supported by his wife, Amy, and their six children.

Coach Burkhart is entering his seventh season as a varsity assistant coach at GHS.  John will serve as co-defensive coordinator.  His main coaching responsibility is coaching the secondary.  Coach Burkhart served as head football coach at Bucklin High School for three years from 1997 to 2000 where he won three district titles.  John graduated from Sterling College with a bachelor of arts in Biology and a bachelor of science in Physical Education.  John is supported by his wife, Janae', son, Jerad and daughter Jaedyn due in May 2007.

Robert Rehse

Coach Rehse is entering his second year as an Assistant Coach at Goddard High School.  In 2007, Coach Rehse coached the Offensive Line and Linebackers for the Freshman team while also serving as the Defensive Coordinator. Robert came to Goddard after serving as the head coach at White City High School for five years.  Previously, Rehse served as the Quarterbacks and Defensive Backs coach and Offensive Coordinator for the Freshman team at Salina Central High School.  Rehse also has served as the Receivers and Defensive Backs coach for the Freshman / Sophomore Team at Santa Clara High School in Santa Clara California.  While at White City High School, Rehse coached seven All State performers and had 10 players selected to play in the Kansas Eight Man All Star Game.  Rehse left White City as the 2nd winningest coach in school history.  Coach Rehse played his college football at West Valley Junior College in Saratoga California for three years and at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina for two years.  At KWU, Rehse was a two year starter and earned Honorable Mention All KCAC Slot Back and was a co-captain of the 2000 team.  Rehse also holds the school record for yards per catch average for a season at 36.5.  Coach Rehse is currently working towards in Masters Degree in History from Wichita State University. Robert is supported by his wife Jenny and two children, Brandon and Lauran.

Rick Sullivan

Rick Sullivan is entering his third year as an assistant coach at Goddard High School. Rick will serve as special teams coordinator.  Coach Sullivan will coach the tight ends and work with the punters and kickers. Rick works at Central Marketing in Goddard as a sales manager. Coach Sullivan comes from a strong football background having been a tight end and punter in high school at Miami Sunset High in Miami, FL.. Coach Sullivan is supported by his wife, Suzanne and their two children, Blake and Brooke.

Coach Sullivan has been coaching for four years. He previously coached at Peabody-Burns High School in Peabody, KS. He has coached 21 Heart Of America All League players, 6 All Area players, 12 All State players, and a Shrine Bowl player.

Scott Vang

Coach Vang is entering his first year as an assistant coach at Goddard High Schooland fifteenth overall. He came from Wichita East where he served as Head Coach for six years. Durng that time Wichita East made the playoffs for the first time in 21 years. Coach Vang has also coached at Wichita South for three years, and at Wichita Northwest for five years. Coach Vang played college football at the University of Iowa and high school football at Wichita Northwest.
