Dear Tennis Prospect,

The 2008-09 school year is quickly approaching and that also means the start of another exciting Girls Tennis season will be here soon as well.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of some dates, times, and general information so that you will be fully prepared and ready to begin the season.

Here is our organizational timeline:

1. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 13.
2. On Thursday, August 14, at 3:00, we will have our organizational meeting in CoachBuchanan’s room which is C-28, on the 2nd level of GHS.  If you are planning on going out for the team, it is imperative that you attend this meeting.  Please bring the following items to the meeting:
• Pen or pencil
• Your physical, insurance, & GHS policies forms.  Be sure all forms are completely filled out on both sides and signed in the appropriate places. (All forms can be obtained in the GHS main office)
• Bring a check for $30 to pay for your 2008 tennis top. Make your check for $50 if you want a matching tennis skort. Put your size(s) on the memo space of your check.
3. First day of practice is Monday, August 18 @ 3:10.  Don’t be late and remember a big water jug!

We have (12) scheduled JV tournaments, including (5) at home.  So, you can see we will have plenty of opportunities for our players to play.  Plus, with the graduation of (3) key seniors from last year’s team, the chance to play varsity is pretty wide open this year.  I know several of you have been playing and practicing this summer, and I am anxious to see how that work translates into the school tennis season.

Finally, a couple of changes have taken place since last season.  One, Coach Sandell has resigned as an assistant after 22 years helping the GHS tennis program.  His replacement will be named soon.  Two, my health has improved greatly from last year, so I hope to be around full-time this season.   The coaches and I are looking forward to seeing you soon on the courts.  Remember…….get your physical taken care of BEFORE the season starts!
