PRIDE is a word you will see and hear frequently at GMS—in the halls, in the classrooms, on the bus, in the lunchroom, and much more. It is a carefully selected word that, when used as an acronym, typifies those qualities expected of all GMS students and staff.
PRIDE is…
...a feeling of self-respect and personal worth
…satisfaction with your (or another's) achievements
…the trait of being spurred on by a dislike of falling below your standards
PRIDE is also defined as "a group of lions" making its use even more befitting of the students and staff of Goddard Middle School.
Our hope…our challenge…our expectation…is that all students experience PRIDE in all they do.

Show your Lion PRIDE at GMS!
PRIDE Time is a 32-minute block of time at the beginning of each day. In addition to math and reading teachers working with identified groups of students throughout the year on various skills, all other teachers will present common lessons that reinforce those skills deemed necessary for middle school students to be successful. Teachers will also monitor the academic progress of those students assigned to their PRIDE Time by checking grades, PRIDE Binders and agenda books. PRIDE Time will also be used for activities related to Student Council, PTO, reviewing policies, meetings, etc. to protect the instructional time. At the end of the year, we use this time to read and discuss a novel together as a school.
The following schedule will be used for PRIDE Time:
Monday – Study Skills (7th) & Wellness (8th)
Tuesday – Reading
Wednesday – Study Hall
Thursday – Math
Friday –Study Hall
PRIDE Time is part of the students' school day and all students are required to attend PRIDE Time.
