2018 Summer STEM Academy

Summer Learning STEM Academy

Goddard Public Schools is piloting a Summer Learning STEM Academy for current 2nd through 5th-grade students (3rd through 6th-grade students starting in the 2018-19 school year) that will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs and activities.  This STEM Academy is offered at Apollo Elementary School at no cost to current USD 265, Goddard Public Schools students to participate. 

There are two 4-day sessions in which students can sign-up for one, or both sessions.  The sessions are 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday:

Session 1 = June 4 – 7

Session 2 = June 18 – 21 

Registration will be made available until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.  You must complete the enrollment process for your student by 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17th, to be considered for this program.  Space is limited. Students must be able to attend all 4 days of the session to be considered for acceptance.  

UPDATE From April 6, 2018: Due to the overwhelming response to our Summer STEM Academy, we have already reached capacity for the 2018 Summer program.  If you register after 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 6th, 2018 your student will be put on a wait-list.  If a spot becomes available, you will be contacted.

If you registered earlier this week, or before 4:00 p.m. today, Friday, April 6th, 2018, your student has been accepted into the program, and you will be receiving additional information in the upcoming weeks. 

Session 1, June 4-7: Out of this World – Space, Flight and Aerodynamics 
During our Summer STEM Camp, children learn through inquisitive hands-on-activities utilizing science, math, critical-thinking skills and a great deal of imagination! Students will learn about the aerodynamics of flight, concepts of Newton’s Laws used to launch rockets into space, effects of gravity, and much more.  This out-of-the-world experience will not disappoint!

Session 2, June 18-21: All Things Matter
Hands-on learning, innovation & adventure! Matter, matter & more matter – what does it matter? Is it slippery or slimy or sticky? All activities are carefully constructed to provide the ultimate STEM Based-Learning environment while providing a FUN hands-on experience. Make science a reality!
