Welcome to Goddard Public Schools!

We are excited you are joining our #265Family.

If you are enrolling a student for the first time, please complete the following steps:

For pre-kindergarten program: A free preschool program is available for a limited number of four-year-olds who meets one or more of these specific guidelines: single-parent family, teen parent family, low income, DCF referral, limited English speaking, parent has no high school diploma/GED, child qualifies for migrant status, or lower than expected developmental progress. The child must be 4 years old on/or before August 31, 2020. Please note that pre-enrolling doesn’t guarantee Pre-Kindergarten slots.

Our Pre-K Day is currently postponed. Please bring the following for your child: proof of residency (see below), copy of the child’s birth certificate (see below), and immunization records. These must be received before the child can start Pre-K.

Complete the New Student Online Enrollment process. (iPhone, iPad and Android devices are NOT supported) If you have any questions about this process, you can call (316) 794-4011. 

As apart of this enrollment process, you will need to submit one of the following documents (either directly to the school or a photocopy uploaded to Skyward) as proof of residency in the Goddard Public Schools boundaries:

  • Current electric, gas, sewer, water, or trash bill with a residential service address
  • If you have not yet received a utility bill, you may submit a signed housing contract or a signed lease agreement as temporary proof of residency

* Please note, the following documents will NOT be accepted as proof of residency:

  • Driver's license
  • Phone bill
  • Cable bill
  • Mortgage statement
  • Disconnect notice

In the meantime, please begin gathering the following required documents to submit during the New Student Online Enrollment Process:

  • Certified copy of each student's birth certificate
  • Current immunization record
  • Mailing address for the previous school

For elementary (K-4th) and intermediate (5th-6th) students:

‚Äč* Note: In order to enroll in Kindergarten, your child must be 5-years-old on/or before August 31, 2020. For USD 265 residents only. Please consider attending our Kindergarten Round-up at your child’s elementary school they will be attending. To find out where your student will attend elementary school, enter your address here.

For middle school or high school (grades 7-12):

  • Transcript from the last school your child attended

These documents must be submitted to the school in order for your child to attend.

Step 2 – After completing and submitting your application, you will be contacted by your school registrar in 3-5 business days. Click here to enter your address and find out what school your child will attend. Once you are contacted, please set up an appointment to visit with your student’s registrar to create a class schedule. See a list of elementary and intermediate schools’ contact information below:

STUDENTS IN TRANSITION

Please follow the guidelines above according to your student’s age. If you need assistance enrolling your student or accessing technology please contact Jeff Hersh at 316-794-4000 or your school’s secretary.

If you answer yes to any of the questions below, you qualify as a student in transition.

  • Are you sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason?
  • Are you currently residing in a shelter, motel, hotel, in a car, or at a campsite because your home has been damaged or because of economic reasons?
  • Are you currently living in or participating with a community based temporary housing arrangement?

EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS OF HOMELESS STUDENTS

Under the McKinney-Vento Act, children in homeless situations have the right to:

  • Go to school, no matter where they live or how long they have lived there
  • Attend either their school of origin or their local school
  • Receive associated transportation services
  • Enroll in school immediately, even if missing documents normally required for enrollment due to homelessness, such as birth certificate, proof of residence, school records, immunization (shots) or medical records
  • Have immediate access to free lunch (without filling out forms)
  • Engage in all the same programs and services that are available to all other students

WHO QUALIFIES FOR SERVICES?

Homeless children are those who lack a fixed, regular, or adequate nighttime residence, and includes children and youth who are:

  • Temporarily “doubled-up” with relatives or friends due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or similar issue
  • Living in motels, hotels, or campgrounds
  • Living in emergency or transitional shelters
  • Runaway youth, as well as youth not residing with their legal guardian
  • Living in housing without heat, lights, or water

SERVICES AND SUPPORTS

Homeless children may require the following: 

  • School Transportation
  • School supplies and backpacks
  • Uniforms for school
  • School Activity and Field Trip Fees
  • Before and after school tutoring
  • Case Management 
  • Resource Referrals
