Administrative Positions:

Executive Director of Goddard Public Schools Special Education Cooperative:  USD #265 is seeking a World Class Leader to serve as the Executive Director of Goddard Public Schools Special Education Cooperative.  The position is responsible for the overall administration of special education programs and ensuring procedural compliance with all state and federal special education regulations.  The Executive Director is under the direct supervision of the superintendent of the Goddard Public Schools.   He/she will work in close cooperation with all  special education staff members and those staff members of the various buildings and districts to which special education staff are assigned. 

Candidates who possess the following leadership skills and knowledge of IDEA are encouraged to apply:

  1. Successful implementation of policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education, and local board policy in the area of special education.
  2. Ensures the Goddard Public Schools Special Education Cooperative is in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and advising district leaders as needed.
  3. The successful candidate will thrive working in a team environment, possess an exemplary work ethic and be willing to demonstrate and develop principles of effective leadership.
  4. Lead the district in the development of an innovative approach to establishing a blended service special education model for ALL students.
  5. A working knowledge of current trends in special education and school best practices.
  6. Recommend sound policies and procedures to improve the special education program for ALL students.
  7. Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  8. The ability to establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with superintendents, principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
  9. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (such as district administrators, staff, outside partners, and families) to accomplish team objectives and leverages department resources to ensure positive outcomes and desired results for ALL students.
  10. A strong understanding of the various funding mechanisms related to SPED, including federal title and state categorical aid and extraordinary needs.  Assist with special education department budget planning.
  11. Demonstrate the ability to network with other area, state and regional SPED leaders in order to research best practices and innovative approaches.
  12. Collaborate with district leaders in the area of professional development for both certified and classified staff.
  13. Contribute to the department and district’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, providing key information and pertinent input into recommendations and implementation of continuous improvement plans.
  14. Prepare reports on a variety of topics related to special education for a variety of audiences by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  15. Articulate a clear vision designed to meet the ever changing needs of ALL students in the Goddard Public Schools Special Education Cooperative.

The individual hired to fill this position will begin employment on July 1, 2020.  During the 20-21 school year, he/she will lead the district team in establishing a SPED Cooperative that will begin providing services to students in the Goddard, Cheney, Conway Springs, and Clearwater School Districts on July 1, 2021.  Please direct all questions regarding this position to Jeff Hersh, Asst. Substitute Teachers:  The Goddard Public Schools is currently accepting applications from individuals interesting in serving as a substitute teacher. Classified Positions:

Nutrition Services: Cook (9-month position, $10.76/hour): The Nutrition Services Department has a cook position open. This position is 32.5 hours per week, and is responsible for food prep, serving, operating a cash register, washing dishes, and cleaning.
