USD 265 COVID-19 RESPONSE AND RESOURCES
During the 2022-23 school year Goddard Public Schools will continue to monitor and utilize a variety of approaches to navigating the pandemic. The “Operational Guidance for K-12 Schools and Early Care and Education Programs to Support Safe In-Person Learning” from the CDC, updated August 11, 2022, can be found HERE.
During the 2021-22 school year Goddard Public Schools continued to utilize a variety of approaches to navigating the pandemic. Each individual school building will continue to space in classrooms and other areas within each school as much as possible, limit visitors into classrooms, promote effective hygiene practices, and continue with enhanced cleaning procedures.
Per the CDC health order (not guidance) universal masking is required on school transportation. As many families did last year, the ability to transport your child to school continues to be helpful. Anyone on school transportation (including activity routes and vans) will need to follow the CDC health order. READ THE CDC ORDER HERE
The school year started with masking being optional. Any time a health order comes from the CDC, KDHE, or Sedgwick County the school district will then adjust to follow the order. If student and staff absences due to quarantine begin to impact the district’s ability to staff or keep students in school, changes will need to be made to meet the goal of having in-person learning options for students each day.
On September 2, the USD 265 Board of Education implemented a mask mandate inside all elementary and intermediate schools, with location exceptions as deemed by principals, effective September 7th, 2021.
On November 8th, the board of Education made the Mask requirement voluntary for all students and staff, effective November 10th, 2021
Full time “Remote Learning” is not a supported learning option in Kansas this year. The two learning models are in-person and virtual. The virtual learning option is not intended to parallel or blend with daily in-person instruction; therefore, the first two weeks of each semester will be the only appropriate time for students to switch learning platforms this year.
