Eisenhower MS 8th Grade reading classes learned and completed a project about the WWII Candy Bomber, Colonel Halvorsen. Their project & this picture will be used in a museum in Fort Scott honoring Colonel Halvorsen.
The EHS Student Council is sponsoring a veteran for an upcoming Honor Flight. 1st Class Petty Officer Duane Denny of the U.S. Navy attended their meeting on Jan. 15 to talk with StuCo members. He is a veteran from WWII and Korea.
Chinese 1, 2 and 3 students traveled to KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park to meet the Confucius Institute teachers in person that have been delivering Interdistance Learning Lab instruction for Goddard High and Eisenhower High students.
Goddard & Eisenhower HS have partnered with Wichita Area Technical College as part of the Career & Tech Education to offer a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program to students who will be fully certified after the semester.
To qualify for Pre-K, children must be 4 years old on/or before Aug. 31, 2014 AND meet at least ONE of the first seven at-risk criteria:

Teen parent familyLow income
Limited English speaking
Parent with no high school diploma/GED
Child qualifies for migrant status
Lower than expected developmental progress
The Pre-Kindergarten Program is for Goddard School District residents. The purpose of the state Pre-kindergarten Program is to provide a high quality early learning experience for young children determined to be at-risk in the year before they are eligible to enter Kindergarten. The program is open on a first come, first served basis for children with evidence that they meet at least one of the first seven at-risk criteria. Non-discrimination Policy: Children who have an IEP AND who meet at least one of the first seven (1-7) at-risk criteria will be considered as potential members of the Four-year-old at-risk classroom and cannot be excluded from participation soley based on their having an IEP (KSDE, 2013).
