Project Lead The Way (PLTW)
We are proud to be a PLTW - K-12 STEM district!
PLTW provides transformative learning experiences for K-12 students and teachers. Our teachers create an engaging, hands-on classroom environment and empower students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive.
Students enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and listening skills while learning to persevere through any challenge. Students learn that sometimes failure is a part of the process that leads to the solution.
Goddard Public Schools is one of a few districts in Kansas to offer these PLTW classes from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
PLTW Launch - Grades K-5 - Introduces our youngest learners to the exciting world of STEM through hands-on activities that spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Students explore topics like design, robotics, and science in ways that make learning fun and engaging.
PLTW Gateway - Grades 6-8 - Builds on those early foundations by giving middle school students opportunities to explore engineering, computer science, and biomedical science. Through real-world challenges, students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and technical skills.
PLTW Engineering - Grades 9–12 - Provides high school students with in-depth, project-based courses where they apply math, science, and engineering principles to solve real problems. Students might design bridges, create prototypes, or develop new innovations while preparing for college and careers.
PLTW Biomedical Science - Grades 9–12 - Engages students in activities and labs that mirror the work of health professionals. From investigating medical cases to exploring genetics, physiology, and public health, students gain insight into careers in medicine, research, and healthcare.
PLTW Computer Science - Grades 9–12 - Helps students see how computer science impacts the world around them. They learn to code, design apps, analyze data, and explore fields like artificial intelligence and cybersecurity—all while building creativity and problem-solving skills.
