Goddard Kids Rock

Music truly is a powerful tool for inspiration and learning for students, and the “Goddard Kids Rock” campers experienced it firsthand this summer! Provided at no cost to parents, this year’s Kids Rock camp allowed 3rd and 4th grade students to dive into the world of music using the modern band approach - playing, improvising, and composing their own tunes.

The talented young musicians had an incredible time exploring a variety of new instruments, including the ukulele, keyboard, bass guitar, drums, and vocals, as well as experimenting with music technology. Fourth grade student, Adler Leivian exclaimed, “I love playing all kinds of music but at Kids Rock, I got to learn how to play the bass guitar. It was my favorite instrument during the week!”

The week culminated in a fantastic performance for their families, showcasing all their amazing new skills! A huge thank you to the incredible Goddard elementary music teachers - Sarah Ashcraft (Apollo Elementary School), Jackie Chambers (Oak Street Elementary School), and Rochelle Mann (Amelia Earhart Elementary School) for bringing their passion and expertise to Kids Rock. Their dedication fosters a love for music that will last a lifetime for these young musicians.

A huge round of applause to all the students who brought their energy, creativity, and awesome talent to Goddard Kids Rock camp this summer! Goddard Public Schools is proud to offer an array of summer learning opportunities to students and families, where creativity is fostered and learning can look different.
