Shane Ewing & Lindsay White stand alongside Laura Rainwater (Sedgwick County Election Commissioner) after being sworn in as the newest members of the USD 265 Board of Education

Goddard Public Schools is excited to welcome Shane Ewing and Lindsay White as the newest members of the USD 265 Board of Education. Elected in November of 2025, alongside incumbent Ruth Wood, the newly elected members were sworn in on Monday, Jan. 12th, 2026 by Laura Rainwater, Sedgwick County Election Commissioner.

Board of Education members serve four-year terms. Board service requires significant time, energy, and thoughtful decision-making on behalf of thousands of students, families, staff, and patrons of Goddard Public Schools. Our #265Family is fortunate to have committed community members that have chosen to step forward and voluntarily contribute their talents and perspectives to guide the district's future, and their service will pave the way for brighter opportunities ahead.

As they begin their tenure, Ewing and White join a collaborative group of seven total board members, including Board President Jenny Simmons, Vice President Amanda Gish, Nicole Hawkins-McWhorter, Jerry Longabaugh, and Ruth Wood; focused on advancing the district’s 2025-30 Strategic Plan, fostering academic achievement, supporting our educators, and ensuring every student has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Their insights and enthusiasm will strengthen this team’s work on behalf of the students, staff, families, and community we all serve.

White shared her inspiration for joining the USD 265 Board of Education saying, “As a proud parent in the USD 265 district and someone raised in a family of educators, I’ve seen how communities thrive when we support our schools, teachers, and families. Our children are Goddard's future. I care deeply about continuing USD 265's legacy of high-quality education that prepares all students not just for graduation, but lifelong success. I’m excited to listen, learn and serve the district that means so much to our family.”

Ewing reflected on his upcoming service sharing, “I’ve been inspired by the three most important women in my life - my wife, her mom, and my mom - who all have devoted themselves to teaching their whole careers. I’ve seen how the demands of being a teacher affect their lives, the lives of their families, and most importantly the kids in their classroom. When the opportunity aligned to join the school board and offer my own service in support of teachers like them, I did not hesitate. I look forward to working with the incredible servant leaders on the Board of Education and within Goddard Public Schools to create opportunities for others, to bridge communication gaps with our community and lead us toward the exciting future awaiting this growing district.”

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Shane and Lindsay as they embark on this important journey of service over self.

On behalf of the entire #265Family, welcome aboard! We are fortunate to have dedicated community members like you that have the heart to serve.
