Congratulations to Mai Fairchild, Oak Street Elementary Lunch Paraprofessional, for receiving the District Attitude Award! Her nominators wrote, “Mai has gone above and beyond in the Oak Street Cafeteria. She has positive incentives set for all students and meets individually with struggling students to set goals and personalized rewards. She works hard to develop individual rapport with each student who enters the cafeteria and checks in frequently with teachers to share the positives and areas of need. It is such a relief for teachers to drop their students off knowing that all students matter and are cared for greatly!” - Ann Millar and Tara Johnson “Well first of all Mai is just the most kind and patient person I have met in a long time. She also takes time to speak to each child when discussing a behavior in the lunchroom calmly and patiently. She is calm and doesn't let circumstances dictate how she responds to the kids. She also has come up with some fun and original group activities the kids can participate in during lunch. Mai is definitely an asset to the Oak Street family!” - Carol Edminsten “Mai has created an interactive lunch room that includes all students, she plays a sound of the week, joke of the week, etc. She’s very warm and encourages students for good behavior with rewards. She has been a great asset to our school but even more to our students.” - Marge Paolucci

Happy Tiger Trait Tuesday. We are celebrating the positive trait of Courage this week, and these students have either shown courage or shown another tiger trait to earn a ticket ticket already this week. Enjoy your new game that allows you to go on a Scavenger Hunt! They won the fun game called Found it. This allows you to have a Scavenger Hunt even indoors!

We had a busy and very full week at Oak Street. These students used their tiger traits, were spotted doing so, and earned at least one ticket to be the lucky winner in their grade. They scored a goodie bag of over 15 smaller prizes. Enjoy all the treasures and have an amazing weekend! We are proud of you!

Welcome back to Motivational Monday! Our feature on this bright and sunny day is our own Mrs. Chambers. She has a shirt on that reminds us of how Blessed she is as an educator at Oak Street. It is so fitting that she came to school just today and was handed a box full of drum pads. A special student and her family decided to bless Mrs. Chambers with a gift that everyone in music can use. What a fitting and perfect Motivational Monday feature. We are so appreciative!

Congrats to this group of winners. They were picked after only having two days to show their best tiger traits at school. They earned a fun Highlighters Hidden Mazes book. This is a perfect book to take outside and work on in the warm sunshine. Enjoy your five day break students!
