We found out winners early for our Tiger Trait drawing! We have a lucky 5 that showed they either were responsible, respectful, and or persevered sometime this week to earn at least one ticket. This group has a great reward for doing so. They get to go with Mrs. Miller on January 4th to Mr. B's donut shop for breakfast! We also are showing off our two Novel Nala winners. They will celebrate with a fun time after the break with Mrs. G and Nala. Keep showing your Tiger Traits to your family throughout the break students. You make us so proud!

Santa was definitely loose in the building again, but he was really hiding! The lucky three staff members who ended up with Santa won a filled cosmetic bag from Amy Dopps and a free drink coupon from CoFellow. Congratulations Carol Edminsten, Diane Soza and Gini Brownell. Thanks to CoFellow and Amy Dopps for the great prizes!

Oh the fun reindeer games we play at Oak Street! The staff learned that Santa was on the loose this week at Oak Street! Today three Santa's started the morning in the pockets of staff members. If a staff member was asked and they had Santa in their pocket, they had to hand him over. There were lots of hi, hellos and have you seen Santa questions throughout the building. The three lucky winners today that ended up with Santa in their pocket at the end of the day: Mai Fairchild, Kinsey Miller and Ann Millar each won a gift card from Cofellow. These were donated by one of our PTO members, Casey Jo Gemmill. Thank you Casey Jo for warming the hearts of these three staff members. Santa will be out again tomorrow morning!

1st grade had a very special author visit this morning. Mr. Scribner, a former music teacher, who wrote the book titled, "How Lola Got Her Wings" just happens to be Mrs. Moses' dad! 1st grade enjoyed listening to Mr. Scribner read his book which features a flamingo named Lola. The book is about how Lola overcomes her fears in school by enrolling into a dance class.

Our kids learned a life lesson this morning! The staff forgot to draw at the end of the day for the Tiger Ticket drawing. It is good for them to see that even adults make mistakes! I don't think anyone minded though, especially after seeing the smiles on the faces of this group of five! Our winners are going to learn how to draw 101 things from a step by step instructional book. Such a fun book that makes anyone an artist! Great work showing your tiger traits so far this week. We will have a second drawing on Friday for another set of these books! Keep showing that you are responsible, respectful and persevering! We promise to not forget on Friday!

As we celebrate National Special Education Day, we have a lot of things to be excited about as we enter our third year of being the host district in the Goddard Special Education Cooperative. Our cooperative serves 1,732 students in 21 school buildings within the communities of Goddard, Clearwater, Conway Springs, and Cheney. Our cooperative also serves students with disabilities who attend St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Wichita, Holy Spirit in Goddard, St. Joseph in Conway Springs, and St. Peter in Schulte. Our staff in these communities do an incredible job of working with all students regardless of their disability. They define the mission of our cooperative, that all students can learn together in a school community and participate meaningfully via inclusive education systems that meet the unique needs of all students.

It is Friday and the kids definitely had the Tiger Ticket drawing on their minds! Each of these five won a cool learning ball set that can get them to work on their imagination and coordination. We also have a new prize to announce for two students each week. Drawing from Tiger Tickets we will pull two names that have earned "Novel Nala" time. Nala is Mrs. G's therapy dog and these two will get to do a fun activity with her next week. It could be taking her on a walk, reading her a book or snuggling while listening to a story! We are so excited for all the bonds to form between the students and Nala! Super job showing your Tiger Traits this week Oak Street!
